The Travel

Mongolia is an incredible place. It is undoubtedly one of the most untouched and unchanged places in the world. Taking the opportunity to go to Mongolia is a once in a lifetime thing, and once you have been, you will never forget it.

The people are so welcoming and ready to teach about their culture, and equally keen to learn about ours. Living with Mongolian people it is clear to see and begin to understand their connection and appreciation of nature. The Nomadic lifestlye is still very present in Mongolia, with many families living in Gers and travelling where their animals need to graze. This is so far removed from a modern Western lifestyle, it is refreshing to see how people live. Ulaanbaatar offers a more recognisable way of life, with great food, shops and a fun party scene! It is interesting to see how the traditional Mongolian culture mixes with a modern way of life as influences from around the world are becoming more and more prevalent.

The landscape in Mongolia is hugely varied. From the vast Steppes to the Mountains, and from the forests to the Gobi Desert, there is no limit to the diversity of the country. Volunteers have travelled in a variety of different ways, from getting the train from UlaanBaatar to a horse camp to explore the local area, to visitng the Terelij National Park, to completing a tour through the Gobi Desert, we would definately reccommend seeing the country!

Previous volunteers have travelled to Ulaanbaatar by the Trans-Mongolian Train, from Beijing and from Russia. This is unique experiance travelling through country and its a great way to see the different landscapes.
