CYPPD (Children and Young Peoples Protection and Development)
Project Mongolia works with the chartity CYPPD which is based in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. CYPPD's aim are to 'protect vulnerable children, especially those involved in child labour, and to support them in their development as equal and harmonious citizens.’
Since 2002 CYPPD has been highlighting and advocating for the disadvantaged and marginalized children of Mongolia. CYPPD works to raise awareness about child rights by running training and other educational activities and supporting children’s access to basic needs such as education, play and health services.
CYPPD’s work assists and supports children aged between 6 and 24 years old who face a variety of challenges:

Lack of family support, or severe family financial difficulties;

Physical or sexual abuse;

Homelessness, especially dangerous in the winter months when the temperature plummets to as low as -40; andChild labour activities, some of which can be very dangerous and prevent children from receiving a formal education.
CYPPD is a member of the Elimination of Child Prostitution and Trafficking (ECPAT) network and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN). CYPPD also works with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Mongolian Government’s National Authority for Children (NAC) and numerous community stakeholders including business owners, parents, police, teachers and social workers to try and raise awareness and bring about change regarding child rights. CYPPD is the coordinating organization for the National Network against the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
